Last September 25, The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia celebrated their 87th National Day. For years of my stay in the Kingdom, it was the first time I've experienced their celebration because they celebrated a part of it in the Four Seasons Hotel or the Kingdom Tower which is just a few meters away from my workplace. I've seen the Kingdom Tower's big screen display on its building and their amazing fireworks; there were many people gathered around the area to see this which lead to heavy traffic on the street.
I am amazed how patriotic the Saudi people are. The city is colored in green which is the color of their flag. The locals wear something green and wave their flags. Some even put flags on their cars.
Below are the video and picture I took from my workplace:
I was not able to see the whole event but it was really superb and looks very fun. Here are other wonderful pictures I saw from Riyadh Freaks:
We didn't have a chance to see how they really celebrate the day. We usually just stay home during holidays. Except one time when we watched the fireworks up close during the Haj or Eid celebration. That was a long time ago.
ReplyDeleteIt was actually my first time to see fireworks in the Kingdom because I don't go out frequently.
DeleteWow their celebration looks so festive! You're so lucky to witness this great event.
ReplyDeleteIt was really fun. There were many Saudi people outside enjoying their special day.

DeleteHubby didn't mention this to me so I didn't know there was a holiday there last Sept 25th, hehe. The last holiday he informed me was the Eid lang. It's ok, he was too busy at work din during this time. But woooow! Ang ganda at ang bongga ng celebration!
ReplyDeleteI think some expat still have work on the holiday. I'm not just sure. Kaya most expats are still working during the Saudi National Day.
DeleteThat is s amazing that you witnessed it Sis, and good thing is you don't even have to travel to see it. Thanks for sharing these cool photos. Ganda nga talaga.
