Antipolo

Last June 9, we went to Antipolo for a swimming because we knew that there were lots of resorts there. We didn't plan, made a research nor did a list on which resort to go there. Hahaha!!!

Before going to Antipolo, we dropped by at Don Antonion in Commonwealth for a late lunch. We were craving for Korean food that time so we had our favorite Korean dish.

I just simply love Kimchi Jigae because I love spicy soup. Hahaha!!!

Off course, we wouldn't wanna miss the Samgyeopsal. This is very filling even without the rice. The pork belly was thinly sliced which made it easy to chew when wrapped by a lettuce.

Side dish, I dunno what they are called except the Kimchi.

Side dish again with the uncooked pork meat. Too bad I wasn't able to take a photo of the lettuce. LOL

I'm glad we were able to finish them all and our tummies were full without the feeling of bloatedness. I guess it's because we didn't have the rice. =) Now, we were ready to go to Antipolo!

We reached Antipolo at almost 6pm already, we saw a resort but it was already closed, they didn't have a night swimming. They mentioned a resort but we couldn't find it since we were not really familiar with the place. We tried searching for another resort but to no avail, we couldn't find one. We should've had made some research before going there because I believe there are lots of resort that can be found in this place it's just that we didn't exactly they were located.

To our dismay, we just went to Cloud 9 since I haven't visited that place yet and we thought there might be a pool there but we found out that the pool wasn't already that clean and maintained. So we just toured around the place.

I just had a photo in Cloud 9 to make our visit "sulit." By the way, I heard some geckos there, I was entertained by their sound. It was my second time to hear geckos, the first one was when we were in Eagle Point Resort but unfortunately, I haven't seen one.

We stayed there until sun set. The view was simply amazing. =)

Afterwards, we looked for a nice place to drink and eat a little.

We had a not so healthy "lechon kawali" and "balot" (which is not on the picture) while enjoying our beer. Then we went home a bit disappointed because I was really expecting that we'll go swimming. Now we already knew what to do the next time we visit a new place.

Isabela

Last August 2011, we went to Isabela to pay a visit to our grandmother's grave and of course, some of our relatives there. Isabela is where I was born and this place is so dear to me eventhough I didn't grow up here. There's nothing really special with our province. No special tourist attractions to go to but I love its simplicity, it's green surroundings, the scent of the grass, the view of the mountains, rice fields, and other plantations of vegetables.

We had to pass by several mountains and steep roads in going to Isabela. Some of the roads are a bit dangerous so be careful in driving. I enjoyed the views of the rice fields, mountains and fountains.

Foggy mountain. Just woke up in the car and saw this nice view from my window. It was really cold so we opened the windows of the car to breath fresh air. It felt really good.

This is Isabela! You can normally see rice grains or corns on the roads.

I saw a lot of corn fields in our town.

Goats. You can also see carabaos, cows, and chickens on empty lots.

This big but cute and friendly cat greeted us when we arrived at my uncle's house.

They served us delicious foods and this is one of the reasons why I love visiting my uncle's house. LOL

Chopsuey

My favorite Dinengdeng. I think most of the veggies are harvested from my uncle's garden. No wonder why it tasted so good.

Another specialty from Isabela is their Pancit Cabagan. It's noodles are sold fresh as in freshly made. We bought more than 1kilo of noodles from the market to bring in Manila.

We also bought some vegetables in the market since they are cheaper here compared in Manila. We only visited Isabela in a day so after visiting our other relatives and had a little rest, we had to leave and go back to Manila.

OMG! I Have a Dextrocardia!

Last Tuesday I went to a private hospital to have my chest x-ray done. It was just an ordinary day, nothing really special, except that it was raining. So when Paul and I arrived at the hospital, we immediately went inside and informed the lady on the counter that I want to have an x-ray and some blood extraction for my Hepatitis B screening. I had my blood extracted first and this is something that I really hate doing. I'm scared of needles!!!

After that, I went to the x-ray room. Before we started, the lady technician conversed with me asking me some details about my self and the reason why I wanted to have an x-ray. Maybe some sort of building rapport.^_^ Then after changing my clothes, the technician positioned me to the x-ray area, then positioned my arms and given me some instructions. After a few seconds, I'm done. I was so excited to put my clothes on that I was about to go inside the bathroom when suddenly the technician asked me if we could repeat it 'coz she thought that she might have located the marker on the wrong side. She told me that my heart was positioned on the right part. She was a bit shocked about it. I too didn't know how to react about it. So I had no choice but to do it again.

Then the second x-ray was done. It has the same result so the lady technician talked to me that my heart might really be on the right side of my body. She told me that they would give us the final outcome when the Radiologist check it. I really thought about it for days so I was really excited to get the results.

When I claimed the results last Friday, I immediately read my x-ray result. And voila! It says there that I have a DEXTROCARDIA with probable SITUS INVERSUS. I googled about this and I found a support group for people with dextrocardia. I realized I wasn't alone. There are also other people with the same condition as mine and they too are living normally.

Here's a little something from Wikipedia if you are wondering what is a Dextrocardia:

Dextrocardia is a congenital defect in which the heart is situated on the right side of the body. There are two main types of dextrocardia: dextrocardia of embryonic arrest (also known as isolated dextrocardia and dextrocardia situs inversus. Dextrocardia situs inversus is further divided.

Dextrocardia situs inversus refers to the heart being a mirror image situated on the right side. For all visceral organs to be mirrored, the correct term is dextrocardia situs inversus totalis.
Dextrocardia is believed to occur in approximately 1 in 12,000 people,[2]
Kartagener’s syndrome occurs in approximately 1 in 25 of totalis. This disorder affects the sinus and bronchial cilia causing constant sinus and bronchial symptoms that medication cannot rectify. With Kartagener’s both are usually present all year rather than being seasonal.
Although statistically people with dextrocardia situs inversus do not have any medical problems from the disorder, some[vague] are prone to a number of bowel, esophagus, bronchial and cardiac problems[vague]. Some of these conditions can be life threatening if left unchecked.

Since Paul wasn't able to accompany me when I claimed the results, I showed it to him today and he could not believe about it. We really had a small debate and told him that I should have another x-ray if he doesn't want to believe it. Then he came up with an idea of auscultating my heart beat through a stethoscope. He tried to listen to the left part of my chest (where the heart is usually located). Then to the right side of my chest. Then he repeated it on both sides of my chest this time with more pressure on the diaphragm of the stethoscope. Then he looked at me with an awe telling me, "You are special!" I was smiling but in the back of my mind I thought, "Baka special child." LOL

This wasn't my first time to have a chest x-ray. My first was when I was entering college. The university where I enrolled required a medical exam including x-ray but they didn't give me the results and I wasn't even bothered to think about it that time 'coz I knew there's no problem with my health. I'm so thankful that I was still born normal in spite of it without any serious diseases. I was even active in sports. God is really great.

For 27 years, all I knew my heart was at the left. I'm so thankful that I had an x-ray this month. It's better to be late than never. Right? And until now, I still can't believe that I have a dextrocardia. =)

College Reunion

One of my college friends took her very first vacation here in the Philippines so she grabbed the opportunity for us to have a reunion. At first, I wasn't aware that it was her treat. I was a surprised 'bout that ^-^. It was Sunday eve and there were lots of people strolling at Trinoma so our group decided to eat at SM North. We had our dinner at Hainanese Delights. It was my first time to eat here so I was a bit excited to taste their food.

Since I couldn't decide on which to order for myself, I had their specialty Hainanese Chicken Delight (120). It wasn't bad but I couldn't say I liked it. My friends liked it though. Their serving was worth the price. I wasn't even able to finish mine.

Eating here is really worth your money especially when you're on a budge 'coz they offer unlimited rice. I had 2 cups of rice. I wanted more but I had to watch my diet. LOL I will come back here when I visit SM North again. I liked their staffs' service to our group. =)

Next stop, we had a doze of milk tea at Bubble Tea. I ordered Azuki Red Bean Milk Shake (145). It was my first time to try this flavor and I really liked it. I could've requested it to be less sugar since I'm not into sweets. Otherwise, I liked how the red bean blended with the milk. I will order this again but with less sugar.

Here's our group shot. Some were not able to make it because of their busy schedule and some are already working abroad. We really had fun and after drinking our milk teas, we called it a night. Some of us went home but some had a sleepover with one of our friends. Since the location was just near our village, I opted to go with them.

During our sleepover, we watched DVDs, ate some chips, canned foods, ice cream and 2 of us drank a bottle of beer each. I really enjoyed their company since I never had a chance to have a long bonding time with them when we were in college because they are from another group. During school days, our class were divided into 4 groups and each group were assigned to different hospitals and communities (we are nurses =)). So that means you'll be really close with your groupmates. I didn't have any groupmate here since most of them are already abroad.

This made me miss my college days. We really had our special memories specially during our duty days. Oh well, I know we'll have another get together. Actually, this wasn't our first it's just that I wasn't able to blog our other get togethers before. LOL

Dinner at Mr. Kabab

We had a dinner last August 2011 (yes it's looonnngg overdue post) at Mr. Kabab along West Ave. I also love Mediterranean food. I love its unique taste and this type of food is very filling on our tummy. We just ordered few but our stomachs were really satisfied. We had:

 Special Chelo Kabab

 Eggplant with Yoghurt

 I forgot this one...

We have grilled tomatoes and onion on the side. I love to this wrapped in pita bread with garlic and hot sauce. Yummy....

It's my first time to get a taste of their Yogurt Shake and I really loved.

Mr. Kabab is one of our favorite Mediterranean Restaurant in the Metro and we will surely eat here again. I still can't get over with their Yogurt Shake since I love yogurt. I guess I should try to make my own yogurt shake at home. LOL
